Curriculum Objective

This paper addresses the phenomena and significance of healing in the life and ministry of the Christian church. Particular attention is given to the precursors and pioneers of the 20th century ‘Healing Revival’ in America and Australia. This course also aims to sharpen the student’s commitment to prayer for healing.

Outcomes

Students should be able to:

1.       Evaluate alternate theodicies and their implications for sickness and the ministry of healing. This includes consideration of various Christian perspectives and understandings

2.       Critically analyse the historical and theological foundations for the ministry of healing

3.      Explore varying denominational views regarding healing and key people who operate in this area

4.      Describe the relationship between ministries of healing and chaplaincy and care services for the sick and dying

5.  Value the ministry of healing within the Christian church and broader society
