Certificate in Christian Ministries (Level 4)
The Certificate in Christian Ministries prepares you to minister in your local church and community. It provides a foundational overview of theology, biblical studies and Christian disciplines, connecting these to your own life and ministry. The Fieldwork papers will strengthen your practical skills, knowledge and attributes through reflective practices and ministry experiences.
Along with these study areas, the local church also has an integral part to play by providing the place for a practical internship, as well as facilitating student discussions and collaborative learning. Our online learning platform Moodle provides students with the course materials and resources although some papers require
Entry Requirements
Minimum 17 years of age with high school literacy and numeracy skills. Senior pastor's recommendation required.
Course Structure
- Each course has eight 15 credit papers
- Choose a maximum of 60 credits a semester
- A complete course must total 120 credits
- You may do as few as one paper a semester or as many as four

How is it Delivered?
The Local Church Certificate is structured around:
1. Distance learning (course resources and reading available via our online learning platform called Moodle)
2. A practical ministry in a local church
3. Written assessment (essays, reflections, tests, practical activities etc)
One week intensives are also available for some subjects from time to time around New Zealand.
Alphacrucis supplies most of the resources (some readings will come from textbooks which the student is required to purchase – these books may be found at most Christian or online bookstores).
Accreditation
Alphacrucis is registered as a Private Training Establishment accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989. The college holds a Category 2 status, meaning NZQA is Confident in its Educational Outcomes and Self-assessment capability. Alphacrucis College has NZQA approval for this programme and accreditation to deliver it.
The college is a signatory to The Code of Practice (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Students) 2021
