This paper builds upon Ministry Internship I (MIN2043), incorporating learning experiences at a practical level as well as giving opportunity to further reflect on both the practice and theory of ministry. This reflection occurs with an appointed mentor as well as the formal classroom situation. The mentoring would be with experienced ordained pastors or those in recognisedspecialist ministries

Paper Content

Curriculum Objective

Building upon the experience of the Ministry Internship 1, this paper seeks to increase the student’s confidence and expertise in the practice of public ministries of the church. The process should equip the student to develop skills in order to be able to exercise their own mentoring ministry.

Outcomes

Students should be able to:

  1. Explain the process of theological reflection
  2. Summarise and appraise the competencies required for effective ministry
  3. Compare the skills required for public ministry, leadership and team building
  4. Critically evaluate and reflect on personal actions in ministry
  5. Assess the value of feedback found in a mentoring relationship

  1. Advanced level theological reflection
  2. Ministry competencies
  3. Workshops on specific ministry issues
  4. The practice of pastoral ministry in small and large church contexts
  5. Further development of the mentoring relationship and personal spiritual disciplines
  6. Ministry practice 
  7. Develop an inistial personal ministry profile

Portfolio (25%, 1500 words); Minor Essay (25%, 1250 words); Reflection essay on mentoring experience (50%, 100 hour placement, 1250 words)
