Phlair International College (now Alphacrucis) 는 쾌적하고 현대적인 학교 시설과 드넓은 주차공간, 그리고 기독교 커뮤니티로 형성된 주변의 유관기관들로 인해 면학분위기가 잘 조성되어 있습니다. 저는 처음에 ESOL 과정을 공부하였는데 10여명 규모의 반편성과 아시아 지역 영어교육 경험이 풍부한 유능한 교사들 덕분에 50대 중반의 나이에도 불구하고 개개인의 특성에 맞도록 과학적이고 체계적인 교육프로그램 덕분에 젊은 국제 유학생들과도 큰 어려움없이 수업을 함께 진행할 수 있었습니다. Listening과 Speaking위주로 수업을 진행하므로 문법위주의 한국식 영어교육의 폐단을 쉽게 발견할 수 있습니다. 특히 기억에 남는 것은 엄격한 영어 발음의 반복적인 교정입니다. 저는 영어교육의 첫걸음은 문법이 아니라 정확한 발음이라는 사실을 이 곳에서 통감할 수 있었습니다. 다음 과정은 한단계 높은 Management Course를 공부하였습니다. Business와 Management에 필요한 제반 지식을 심층적으로 교육을 하였으며, 특히 학습장이 최첨단 IT연동 시청각 체계로 구성되어 있는데, 5명단위의 그룹이 원형 책상에서 개인별로 배정된 PC를 사용하여 수업 및 학습평가를 할 수 있도록 구성되어 있었습니다. 컴맹인 제가 IT 시스템을 이해하고 Ms-Word,엑셀, 파워포인트 및 MYOB(전산 회계시스템) 등을 자유자재로 구사할 수 있다는 자체가 기적이라고 여겨질 정도입니다. 한마디로 축소된MBA 과정을 Phlair International College (now Alphacrucis)에서 이수한다고 생각하시면 틀림없습니다. Testimonial about my experience. A large proportion of immigrants from a non English speaking background and international students come to study English in New Zealand.

I am an immigrant with a Korean background and had very little knowledge in English. However my experience with Phlair International College(now Alphacrucis) was truly remarkable. I

 believe I have gained exceptional knowledge of English at a very competitive fee. Phlair International College (now Alphacrucis) has a very comforting/warm environment with high end learning facilities. Parking was not a hassle which was great has parking can become a very big issue being in the center of Auckland.

At first I entered ESOL Course. There were 14 classmates including me and the teachers were fluent with high level of experience in teaching English in Asian countries such as China, Japan etc. With the experience of teachers and advanced learning techniques at Phlair, I was able to learn at a very quick paste. Most Asian countries, focuses on teaching English grammar as they only go by written exams.

However the ESOL course in Phlair was very well balanced and all categories were taught on the same level. Therefore not only my grammar was improving, I was correcting my pronunciation and sharpen my listing skills. It was hard to believe that I could understand the IT systems and could operate Ms-Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MYOB (computerized accounting systems) in a few months. It felt like a reduced MBA course.

Thanks to all the resources and training from Phlair International College (now Alphacrucis), I currently work as the store manager with the confidence to perform well, and I could talk confidently in English to the staff whether it’s about business or just everyday conversation. I cannot emphasize enough how much I have learned over these years with Phlair (now Alphacrucis). Definitely wasn’t easy but it really helped me with my new life here in New Zealand.
