Alphacrucis aquires Phlair International College

Through this purchase Alphacrucis will now be able to offer ESOL and Business qualifications in addition to the growing Christian ministry and theology courses we have been developing.

Alphacrucis has acquired Phlair International College through an amazing purchase opportunity. Phlair (previously known as New Covenant International Bible College) has been providing a wide range of NZQA accredited Christian Ministry courses and since 2004,the growth has mainly been in ESOL (English as a Second Language) and Business qualifications.

Through this purchase Alphacrucis will now be able to offer ESOL and Business qualifications in addition to the growing Christian ministry and theology courses we have been developing.

As part of the acquisition we will be relocating to Phlair’s current premises in Rockfield Rd, Penrose. This is a fantastic location at the epicentre of Auckland’s population with quick access to the CBD and Airport. These premises are far superior to our Henderson campus and provide plenty of opportunity for expansion.

The shift will take place during the upcoming semester break ready for Semester 2 on 20 July. We will be retaining the services of Phlair’s current staff so we can continue delivery of the ESOL and Business courses.

While this development reflects our future intentions to become a Christian Education Provider, we will always have ministry training as our core business.

To this end, Pastor Steve Allen will take up a new position as Dean of Alphacrucis with specific responsibilities for developing the School of Christian Studies in New Zealand. He will also work on a number of new initiatives including ministry training programmes, a Pastoral Resource Centre, participation in probationary pastors training and partnership in a chaplaincy training programme. Steve will also continue to pastor Sandringham Family Church.

Pastor Jack Zoutenbier will become the CEO/Principal. Jack has a consulted for the College since 1999 and been on staff since 2007. He brings wide experience in education from involvement with Bible Colleges, consultancy and contracts to NZQA. He has pastoral experience and networks with the wider Christian body as well as A/G ordination.

With a name like Alphacrucis we will always be reminded that we sit at the foot of the cross. No matter what we will teach, we will always challenge our students to explore the meaning of the Cross and to seek a revelation of God’s design for human life as an integral part of their education. We ask you to come on the journey with us. We are confident that with God in front we will be able to make a significant educational impact in our country.
